There’s little question that where it comes to cloud, for most organizations, multi-cloud is already reality. According to Flexera’s latest 2020 State of the Cloud report, 93% of enterprises respondents reported having multi-cloud strategies. It’s been well-covered in these pages and elsewhere. In his assessment of Google Cloud’s strategy published in August, ZDNet colleague Dion Hinchcliffe noted that multi-cloud is at the heart of the cloud challenger’s strategy. In our 2020 assessment of hybrid cloud infrastructure platforms, we noted that Google is hardly alone amongst cloud providers in seeking to expand their footprints into foreign territory.
