This shouldn’t surprise anyone following the changes in enterprise IT, but spending on traditional infrastructure hardware is falling, as enterprises turn to cloud. International Data Corporation (IDC) recently announced its latest Worldwide Quarterly Cloud IT Infrastructure Tracker, a report that draws on data from more than 100 countries.
According to IDC, total spending on cloud-related IT infrastructure will jump by 18.9% this year. The amount spent on traditional hardware environments, on the other hand, will decline by 4%. This might not sound like much, but consider that the previous report from IDC predicted this total would drop by 1.6% in 2015. It’s falling fast.
